The Universal Language of Children.
Laughter, imagination, reflection

January - March 2002 & 2003
The Children's Museum of Houston, Houston, Texas
Fotofest Exhibit

This exhibit is a collaborative exhibit by photographer Karen Sachar, The Children's Museum of Houston, students of the Chicano Family Center and Ed White Elementary in partnership with Writers In The Schools (WITS).

Karen's passion served as the inspiration for this exhibit. As an artist her hope is to reflect the essence of the human spirit through photography.

Children from Houston's Chicano Family Center worked with Karen to master the art of photography. Then, the children put their newfound talents to work, capturing what it's like and what it means to be a kid, whether they're laughing with friends, playing with pets, competing in sports, or simply spending quiet time alone.

In addition, the students further bring the exhibit to life by sharing their stories, poems and thoughts. Karen Sachar's own photography of children from the villages of Ethiopia and South Africa to the classrooms of Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic illustrates how children from all corners of the earth speak the same language.

This exhibit was graciously underwritten by the Karen & Eric Pulaski Philanthropic Fund of the Houston Jewish Community Foundation.
